Your NeuroRide™ Coach
Hi, I'm Steve Crimando, your NeuroRide™ Coach. As a disaster and emergency behavioral health clinician, I have spent the past 40 years helping people on some of the worst days of their lives. While I am still deeply involved in mental health crisis intervention, I have expanded my scope of work to also help people on some of the best days of their lives...when they are on their motorcycles!
I am a life-long motorcycle enthusiast who has combined a love of riding with life-long learning in the behavioral sciences. With undergraduate degrees in human development and public communications, and a graduate degree in clinical psychology, I am also an alumnus of both the Harvard Medical School Global Trauma program and the California Superbike School. I was the founder of HawkWorks, the international Honda Hawk NT 650 owner's network and for several years, publisher of the HawkWorks newsletter. As a rider, I have personally seen the value of understanding the physiology and psychology of riding on the street, trail and track, and it makes all the difference in the world.
In my work in disaster and emergency behavioral health, I was a responder to both World Trade Center attacks in 1993 and on 9/11, and coordinated psychological services at the Northeast Anthrax Screening Center... even worked on the Unabomber case back in the day. I have had boots-on-the-ground at countless natural disasters and acts of mass violence. Pretty heavy stuff. And I have found that even in response to these powerful events, "cycle therapy" has always help ground me. I've also had the opportunity to develop stress control programs for law enforcement, intelligence and military organizations, as well as multinational corporations. Now I am focusing on throttle control as the main form of stress control! I know you can relate. There is nothing like a ride to free your mind.
As a Certified Neuroscience Coach, I developed NeuroRide™ to help riders optimize the many mental health benefits of motorcycling. Though individual coaching, group events and online tutorials, I provide strategies and techniques to apply before, during and after riding to help you fully realize the neuropsychological rewards of every ride. And, there is evidence that those wellness benefits of riding continue long after you are out of the saddle.
The Science of Personal Growth & Mental Wellness
Neuroscience is an exhilarating convergence of biology, psychology, and physics. It provides a profound understanding of how we think, feel, and behave. This discipline draws from a vast reservoir of cutting-edge research, offering a unique perspective on the human condition—addressing physical, emotional, psychological, and even spiritual aspects of well-being.
The brain shapes everything. How we think, what we feel, why we do what we do, and what stops us from changing and growing. NeuroRide™
coaching helps you understand what’s actually happening in your brain, and helps you use that knowledge to optimize your personal and professional lives. Whether that involves stress management, emotional regulation, focus or performance. This is coaching grounded in real science, not motivational talks or generic mindset reframes. It’s the kind of coaching that goes deep and produces results that stick.
At its core, neuroscience coaching is about harnessing the brain’s own mechanisms for healing and improvement. Through targeted strategies and techniques grounded in the behavioral sciences, we explore how subtle shifts in neural activity can lead to significant changes in riding and in daily life. Neuroscience coaching not only identifies areas for cognitive enhancement and emotional regulation but also equips you with the tools to make gains last, fundamentally altering how you navigate both challenges and opportunities.
NeuroRide™ neuroscience coaching is not counseling, therapy or any sort of mental health treatment. It is an evidence-based approach to capitalizing on the existing potential we already possess through tapping into the inherent mental health benefits associated with motorcycling. Understanding how your brain actually works helps you think better, feel more fully, make better decisions and act with wisdom. This is a powerful tool for emotional regulation and stress management. Neuroscience coaching provides you with an in depth knowledge and understanding about how our brain, hormones and physiology impact our body, mind and feelings. Combine all of that with the benefits of riding, and you have a powerful antidote for some of the more toxic aspects of modern life.
Riding a motorcycle can be a powerful tool for improving and protecting your emotional wellbeing. The physical and emotional stimulation of the experience can release endorphins, improve focus and mindfulness, and give you a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Neuroscience coaching enhances the positive aspects of riding. So, if you’re looking for a new way to boost your mental wellbeing, consider neuroscience coaching with NeuroRide™ , the alchemy of motorcycling and the behavioral sciences to take your riding to the next level.

Structured journaling helps you capture and build upon your NeuroRide™ experiences and growth.

Optimized the "flow" state by connecting with the rhythm of the road, leaning into turns, and sensing the environment pulls you into a state of deep, effortless awareness often called the "rider's high." Neuroscience Coaching leverages the natural benefits of motorcycling to optimize mental wellness and personal growth.
