Steve is a Certified Threat Manager (CTM) with the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), a Certified Master Instructor with U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Threat Evaluation and Reporting (NTER) program, and a certified Disaster Response Crisis Counselor (DRCC). He served as an onsite Field Operations Supervisor for FEMA’s mental health response to the 9/11 attacks, coordinated psychological operations at New Jersey’s Anthrax Screening Center, assisted at major incidents including the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, several hurricanes, and multiple air crashes, and has assisted many individuals, communities and organizations following incidents of mass violence and terrorism.

 

Steve is consultant and instructor for many law enforcement and intelligence agencies such as U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations. He is an advisor and instructor for the FBI Community Anti-Threats Officer (CATO) program and is a cleared partner to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). He serves as the chair of the ASIS International Extremism & Political Instability Community (EPIC) Steering Committee and a member of the Steering Committee for the ASIS Human Threat Management Community. He has authored many publications, and is frequently featured as an expert on crisis prevention and response in the media and courts.
